Let’s Finish the Promise

For the past five years, First Universalist has carried a construction loan — a carryover from extensive building renovations whose costs weren't completely covered by our 2017 capital campaign. The balance of that loan is approximately $1.4 million. Each year, $132,000-nearly 10% of our annual operating budget-goes directly to loan payments. That is money going to a bank instead of to our programming, our community partnerships, and our shared ministry. In October, our interest rate will increase, which means more money to the bank, less to the values and vision we share.

It doesn't have to be this way. Our fundraising goal is $1.4 million. Together, we can eliminate the construction loan entirely and immediately free up $132,000 each year for ministry, justice work, and community building.

To maximize the impact, we are hoping to pay off the loan before the rate adjustment, and therefore hoping to get as many payments as possible before September 30, 2026.
